Her motivation for creating Crestwood Communication Aids, Inc. evolved when her sister, Pauline, was in the last stage of multiple sclerosis and was no longer able to talk or move.  Ruth invented Talking Pictures®,  a simple flash-card system, to help her sister express her thoughts by blinking, smiling, frowning, or nodding her head.
